Direction 2010
MoveOn.org is surveying members on what their strategic priorities should be in this year's congressional elections. I just completed the survey. At the end, they asked for any additional comments we might want to communicate to the MoveOn leadership. Here's what I had to say:
Message is key. The American people need to see how: (1) Democratic policies help common Americans, and (2) the opposition lies. We also need to vividly demonstrate how Republican obstructionism and manipulative emotional negativism have impeded the President's and the party's ability to make life better for ordinary Americans. Finally, we have to effectively counter the pernicious theme that our polices threaten the economy. We need to make an effective case that the President and the party have a formula for sustained economic growth, a foundation for a new economy and successful management of the deficit, a la Clinton.
